Wind power compensates for power outages
In the windy regions of South Africa, small wind turbines are an adequate option for taking the power supply into one’s own hands. In any case, they are the cheaper and more environmentally friendly alternative to diesel generators, which are harmful to health and the environment. Our aim is to anchor this awareness in the South African population.
With the support of the Renewable Energy Solutions Program (RES-Program) of the German Energy Export Initiative funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), LuvSide has installed it’s very first small wind turbines in South Africa in early March 2024 – four magestic and efficient LS Double Helix 1.0. The four turbines are in the popular V&A Waterfront in Cape Town and are therefore visible to a wide national and international audience.
With the four LS Double Helix 1.0 small wind turbines installed on behalf of our customer, V&A Waterfront Holdings (Pty) ltd in Cape Town, we want to generate enthusiasm among South Africa’s population for this sustainable, low-noise and visually attractive way of generating electricity.
Our four LS Double Helix turbines set a striking example for renewable energies on the tourist waterfront.
Africa Energy Indaba-Convention
At the same time, the Africa Energy Indaba-Convention took place in Cape Town. This energy conference clearly demonstrated the positive attitude of South Africans towards renewable energies. LuvSide was represented at the convention by its african sales partner ESA (Energy Systems Africa).
Numerous interested visitors came to the stand to find out more about our turbines.
The head of the City of Cape Town’s Department of Economic Affairs visits the stand with his press entourage and is optimistic about the granting of building permits in this City of Wind.
